A/Prof. daniel owens
A/Prof. Daniel Owens is Vice President of the RCPA and Medical Director of Hobart, Launceston and North West Pathology, Tasmania. He is a graduate of the University of Tasmania (UTas) and trained in Laboratory and Clinical Haematology at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, London and Prince of Wales Hospital, Sydney. He is an Associate Professor at UTas, VMO at the Royal Hobart Hospital and previous Visiting Lecturer at Fiji National University.
A/Prof Owens is a member of the RCPA Board of Professional Practice and Quality and the National Pathology Accreditation Advisory Council (NPAAC). He has previously been an examiner in Haematology, state councillor for Tasmania, member of the RPCA Haematology Advisory Committee, Pathology Education Outreach Committee, the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care’s Quality Use of Pathology Committee, and Choosing Wisely. He has also been the Haematology Society of Australia and New Zealand Tasmanian councillor and is currently the pathology representative on the AMA Federal Council.
